இலங்கை அரசினால் தடைசெய்யப்பட்ட அமைப்புக்கள் மற்றும் தொடர்புடைய நபர்கள் பற்றிய விசேட வர்த்தமானி அறிவித்தல் ஒன்று வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது இவ் வர்த்தமானியில் 16 புலம்பெயர் அமைப்புக்கள் மற்றும் அவற்றுடன் தொடர்புடைய புலம்பெயர் நாடுகளில் வாழ்பவர்கள் 424 பேரின் பெயர் விவரங்கள் மார்ச் 21 ஆம் திகதியிட்ட விசேட வர்த்தமானி மூலம் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Banning civil organisations will lead Lanka to face more pressures [ Wednesday, 02 April 2014, 12:34.57 PM GMT +05:30 ] Sri Lanka might have to face more complicated international issues through the banning of civil organizations which have not been banned in foreign countries, social activists say. Sri Lanka government has taken measures to ban 16 Tamil diaspora organizations in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution 1373. The government's particular decision taken after the passing of the resolution against Sri Lanka in Geneva could heighten the criticism of the international community, Convener of Lawyers for Democracy (LfD) - Chandrapala Kumarage. According to the decisions that followed the resolution, these suggestions should be implemented without violating international human rights law, he said. "The government is preparing to lead the country towards the state of emergency again", he added. Meanwhile, Army spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya has said that laws are being formulated to ban organizations and individuals identified as 'foreign terrorist organizations'. According to a recommendation of the Defence Ministry, the government has announced that measures will be taken to freeze financial assets and property of individuals, groups and institutions related to terrorism. Commenting on the situation, the British Tamils Forum has stated that they will act openly and legally to secure political rights of Tamil diaspora.
