இலங்கையின் மனித உரிமைகளில் மட்டுப்படுத்தப்பட்ட முன்னேற்றம்

இலங்கையில் மனித உரிமைகள் தொடர்பில் மட்டுப்படுத்தப்பட்ட முன்னேற்றத்தையே காணக்கூடியதாக இருப்பதாக ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது. 

ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியத்தின் சார்பில் நேற்று ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் மனித உரிமைகள் மாநாட்டில் உரையாற்றிய அயர்லாந்தின் தூதுவர் கராட் கோர் இதனைத் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்

இலங்கையின் மனிதாபிமான மற்றும் மறுசீரமைப்பு செயற்பாடுகள் தொடர்பில் இந்த வருடத்தின் ஆரம்பத்தில் ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியத்தின் சபை புதிய வரையறைகளை வெளியிட்டது.

எனவே இதன் அடிப்படையில் இலங்கை செயற்பட வேண்டும் என்று அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

தற்போது மனித உரிமைகள் மாநாடு இடம்பெறுகின்ற நிலையில், ஏற்கனவே நிறைவேற்றப்பட்ட பிரேரணை தொடர்பிலும், மனிதாபிமான விடயங்கள் தொடர்பிலும் இலங்கையின் பொறுப்புக் கூறுதலை எதிர்பார்ப்பதாகவும் அவர் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

EU notes limited progress in Sri Lanka [ Wednesday, 13 March 2013, 02:25.48 AM GMT +05:30 ] The European Union (EU) says there has been limited progress on the human rights situation in Sri Lanka last year. Ireland Ambassador Gerard Corr, speaking at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) today on behalf of the EU said that the current human rights situation in Sri Lanka and accountability and reconciliation should remain on the agenda of the Council. At the beginning of the 22nd session of the UNHRC last month the Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore had urged the Council to keep Sri Lanka on the agenda over its human rights record. Earlier this month the European Union (EU) said it will push for accountability from Sri Lanka during the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva. A statement following the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels had said that the EU will also support efforts aimed at keeping the issues of accountability and reconciliation as well as the current human rights situation in Sri Lanka on the agenda of the Human Rights Council.
